Privacy Policy & Cookie Notice

Last Updated: May 2026

1. Introduction

Boshoff Tribe Media ("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data in line with the South African Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store and safeguard your information when you visit our website at btmedia.co.za, complete a contact form, or communicate with us via email, phone or WhatsApp.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information that you voluntarily provide and information that is automatically collected when you use our website:

  • Personal identifiers — your name, email address, business name and phone number when you submit a contact form or message us.
  • Communication data — the content of messages, emails and WhatsApp conversations.
  • Technical data — IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, time spent and approximate location (city level).
  • Cookie & tracking data — see Section 5 below.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, operate and improve our services and website.
  • Respond to enquiries, schedule consultations and deliver proposals.
  • Understand how visitors interact with the site so we can improve content, design and conversion.
  • Send you replies, follow-ups and (only with your explicit consent) occasional marketing updates.
  • Comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes.

4. Lawful Basis

We process personal information on the basis of (a) your consent, (b) the performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps you request, (c) our legitimate interests in operating and growing our business, and (d) compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us.

5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

A "cookie" is a small text file stored on your device by your web browser. We also use related technologies such as local storage, session storage, web beacons and pixel tags. Together we refer to these as "cookies" in this notice. We use them in three categories:

STRICTLY NECESSARY

Required for the website to function. Examples include cookies that remember your cookie-consent choice (btmedia_cookie_consent_v1), session security tokens and load-balancer routing. These cannot be switched off.

ANALYTICS

Anonymous usage statistics that help us understand which pages perform well, where visitors drop off and how to improve the experience. We may use Google Analytics 4 (cookies prefixed _ga, _gid, _gat) and Vercel/Next.js performance metrics. Loaded only after you accept analytics cookies.

MARKETING

Used to measure ad campaign effectiveness and show relevant remarketing to people who have already visited the site. May include Meta Pixel, Google Ads conversion tags and LinkedIn Insight tag. Loaded only after you accept marketing cookies.

Managing your choices:when you first land on our site, a banner appears in the bottom-left corner asking you to Accept all, Reject, or Customize your cookie preferences. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's storage for this domain, which will re-prompt the banner on your next visit. You can also block or delete cookies directly in your browser settings; doing so may affect site functionality.

We honour Google's Consent Mode v2 defaults, meaning all advertising and analytics storage is denied until you explicitly grant permission.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade or rent your personal identification information. We share data only with trusted processors that help us run the business, such as our hosting provider, our database provider, transactional email tools, analytics platforms and advertising platforms — and only to the extent necessary. All processors are bound by data-processing agreements.

7. Data Retention

Lead-form submissions are retained for as long as you remain a prospect or client and for up to 36 months thereafter, unless a longer retention period is required by law. Anonymous analytics data is retained for up to 14 months by default. You may request earlier deletion (see Section 9).

8. Security

We implement industry-standard administrative, technical and physical security measures including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted databases at rest and access control. No method of data transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we continuously work to protect your information.

9. Your Rights

Under POPIA and GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal information, the right to data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa or your local supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights please email underdog@btmedia.co.za.

10. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
